Ghibli movies are instantly recognizable and have a very distinct style, which has always inspired pieces of media of any kind, from other movies and soundtracks to videogames. They create nostalgia, and a clear feeling of familiarity.
But how do they achieve that?
In my 4th and 5th days of Dashboard Week, I decided to analyze what makes Ghibli movies what they are.
What are the most recurring themes? Which themes do the most successful movies have in common? Do any specific themes correlate with higher ratings?
This idea required some prep, in particular some data reshaping to find the most common words.
