Data Creation:
I created this data set with Alteryx. The story of the data is about London ambulance services, but the numbers do not reflect reality. It is just a mock data set I created.
Intention Behind This Dashboard:
I want to make an effective overall dashboard. I realised the dashboards I have been making are too explorative. Instead of guiding users to make informed decisions, my works are more like a display of everything the users already know but tidied. Therefore, I decided to redo one of the dashboards I made with a new data set.
Changes I Made:
The dashboard I made before focused so much on changes over time, when in fact there was not much trend over time. Therefore, this new dashboard does not explore much on changes over time, instead it tries to answer a series of questions.
Each chart is designed to answer one question, with the intention of guiding users to understand this business sector better. The questions are as following:
Chart 1: What do this business do? The first question aims to give a context of the business, pointing out the dominated priority category and the scale by providing raw numbers.
Chart 2: When do the incidents happen?
Chart 3: How is the business performing?
Chart 4: How is their resources distribution? As shown in chart 3, C1 and C2 are underperforming. So chart 4 is intended to answer did the business owners already distributed most of their resources to that two categories.
Chart 5: Is the underperforming issue happening across all NHS Trusts?
Chart 6: What are the other factors that could affect their performance? Ambulances being held up in hospitals could be one of the reasons why the business owners are not meeting their response time targets in all categories. There are no proven correlation between the two, but it could be something interesting to guide the users to think about.
