Day 4 of Dashboard week consisted of creating a dashboard using a mock dataset about Emergency Calls to the Fire Department. As well as being provided with data, we were also given questions we should answer.
Things I enjoyed:
- There was a focus to the task. The questions helped guide me in analysing my data, meaning I was looking for answers and insights, as opposed to being overwhelmed with the amount of data.
- The topic itself: The fake data on emergency incidents was quite interesting to analyse. It was a first for me, which made it interesting when thinking about rates.
- Clean Data: The data set was really easy to work with. The fields were clearly named.
Challenges I faced:
- Because the data was so easy to work with, I felt pressure with making my dashboard look nice, and needing to deliver lots of insights.
- I struggled with creating some of the metrics, as I relied heavily on LODs. I needed to check my numbers were right lots.
Overall I enjoyed today's challenge, and learnt a lot.
