Fotiana Yan

Fotiana launched her data career by independently mastering R and ggplot2 to model SARS-CoV-2 data, a project that defined her self-directed technical agility and ability to extract insights from highly ambiguous datasets.

Fotiana’s approach centers on turning complexity into clarity. With a STEM mindset and professional fluency in Mandarin and Greek, she excels at navigating technical hurdles and articulating data-driven solutions to stakeholders who value results over jargon. Her toolkit spans the full data lifecycle, from building scalable dbt transformations to delivering reports in Tableau and Power BI. Fotiana's impact is best seen in her client work, where she led the data hosting strategy for a top Salesforce partner’s migration and streamlined the data pipeline for the UK’s leading steel stockholder, resulting in significant operational time savings.

What sets Fotiana apart is her commitment to making data accessible to everyone. Having upskilled over 15 professionals, she excels at breaking down technical barriers ensuring that data-driven solutions are digestible for all stakeholders, regardless of their technical background. She extends this mission through her blog, where she shares visualisation best practices designed to help others turn complex "data noise" into clear stories.

Outside of work, you’ll find Fotiana at the golf course, improving her short game technique and enjoying nature!
