Curtis Paterson

Curtis joined the data school after graduating from university with a master's in chemistry having worked in pharmaceutical research for three years. It was in these years after graduating that he began to develop a love for the data handling and analysis aspects of his role and a desire to change industries grew. Curtis discovered Tableau and instantly began wanting to learn as much as possible about the software and its capabilities. Learning the software in his free time, Curtis began creating a wide range of visualisations that delivered insights in a range of fields. Shortly after, he found The Data School, where his skill set has grown and his passion for using data to make a difference has evolved.

During his time at The Data School Curtis has worked on several projects for a range of clients including PwC, Clippd, UK Sports Institute and Aldermore. During these placements, Curtis has learnt a range of skills including, but not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing data architecture to allow efficient and available analytics.

  • Handling data and data pipelines in Alteryx and dbt.

  • Handling data using SQL and Python

  • Building complex and insightful Tableau and Power BI dashboards. 

  • Managing Tableau server and cloud as admin.

  • Training large numbers of people with varying experience in Alteryx, Tableau and Power BI.

Outside of work, Curtis is interested in a variety of things. These include football, running and making music.
